Blizzard has confirmed a bug in the WoW Forever Beta where Hunter auto-shots and wand casts effectively skip their 0.5-second cast time. The fix is on the way in the next beta build — relevant for every player planning a ranged character before the November 4, 2026 launch.
What's the bug
On September 23, 2026 at 16:29 UTC, community manager Kaivax posted that the 0.5-second cast time that normally precedes a Hunter's auto-shot and the use of a wand is not working as intended. In practice, those attacks are firing with a much shorter cast time than designed, so ranged Hunters and anyone pulling out a wand between spells don't have to stand still for as long as the developers want.
The fix is coming back in the next beta build — "hopefully next week" as of the September 23 post.
Who is affected
- Hunters — every ranged shot goes through the broken timer. Anyone who liked the snappy feel of the current beta will need to readjust.
- Wand users — Mages, Priests, Warlocks and any caster who pulls out a wand between spells. Wand use is the universal "out of mana" tool at low levels, and the bug made it noticeably faster.
Why it matters
The original WoW rhythm — stand still for half a second, shoot, keep moving — is part of the Classic feel Forever is built on. With the bug, Hunters lose that deliberate pacing, and wand use becomes stronger than the developers want it to be at endgame. In the thread, several players pointed out that some hunters were already exploiting the broken timer to kite high-level elites across continents — pulling them toward neutral guards faster than the intended mechanic ever allowed.
Community reaction
The announcement drew a split response. Hunters and balance-focused players welcomed the change as needed for fairness. Others — especially caster mains who saw wand use as the one reliable leveling QoL for cloth classes — pushed back: wands already feel like a stat stick in Classic, and making them clunkier will push more players away from caster specs.
A second thread of the discussion focused on the built-in swing timer. With the 0.5s cast returning, players want the client to actually show that 0.5s window, otherwise it becomes an invisible delay before every shot.
What this means for you
If you've been playing Hunter or wand-mage in the Forever Beta and enjoying the snap, this is your heads-up: the next build will slow things down. Hunters get back the deliberate, old-school timing their class is built around, and casters get wands that follow Classic's combat pacing instead of skating ahead of it. The change is expected to land within a week of the September 23 announcement, so the next beta client should already carry the fix.
