Auction House in the Forever beta overcharges deposits — players lose silver on cheap lots
29.09.2026World of Warcraft: Forever beta players have found an auction house bug: a 1 silver deposit is deducted for cheap items even when the listed sum is smaller. Selling inexpensive goods through the auction house can leave you at a loss.
Players in the World of Warcraft: Forever beta have noticed an auction house bug: when listing cheap items, the deposit deducted is higher than what the interface displays. Low-level characters suffer the most — at this stage every silver counts for ability training and consumables.
The gist of the bug is simple: if the calculated deposit for a lot is below 1 silver, the auction house charges exactly 1 silver — regardless of the number shown on screen at the time of listing. A seller of a cheap item can end up at a loss: receiving less than they paid in deposit, especially if the item itself is worth under a silver.
On Reddit, users posted specific tests. A "Lesser Healing Potion" priced at 89 copper showed a deposit of 4 copper, but listing it deducted 1 silver — the balance dropped by exactly that amount. The same happened with various cheap items: the minimum deducted deposit was always rounded up to 1 silver.
On more expensive lots the calculation is closer, but still drifts. A "Burning Wand" priced at 22 silver showed a deposit of 1 silver 32 copper, but 1 silver 34 copper was actually deducted — a 2 copper difference due to rounding.
At low levels, selling cheap resources and gear through the auction house is routine: that's how players save up silver for mount training, their first bags, and consumables. If the deposit eats more than the player expected, the profit from a sale can vanish or turn negative. On expensive items the losses are trivial, but the very fact that the number on screen differs from the real deduction is unpleasant — players have to guess how much will actually be taken when listing.
