Blizzard forum post suggests buffing Alliance racial abilities
27.09.2026A player on the official European Blizzard forum complained that Alliance racial abilities are noticeably weaker than the Horde's in PvP, and proposed reworking existing races' abilities and adding new ones — Worgen for the Alliance, and Ogres and Goblins.
What the thread is about
On September 27, 2026, a thread titled "Alliance Racials Improvement / Potential new races" appeared on the official European Blizzard forum. There's one post from one participant. The author — an Alliance player — claims that in PvP, Horde racial abilities (Orcs, Undead, Tauren, Trolls) provide noticeably more value than Alliance racial abilities (Humans, Gnomes, Dwarves, Night Elves, and the new Skyborne race).
Specific complaints
- Dwarves: "Find Treasure" mostly gives food and potions, and the +5% damage to beasts is a weak bonus next to a Troll that regenerates 50% of its health and casts 10% faster.
- Night Elves: +2% movement speed, +1% dodge, and stealth — against a Tauren with +5% health, a 2-second "War Stomp" AoE, and access to herbs without the Herbalism profession.
- Gnomes: "Eureka" is nerfed (it used to reduce mana cost by 50% on 3 spells) — that's the only notable ability. Humans similarly dispel effects, but otherwise nothing special.
- Skyborne: the gliding feels nice, but health and mana regeneration is weak compared to the Undead's "Cannibalize," which also restores resources without buying food.
The author singles out Orcs separately: 20% stun reduction with no internal cooldown, active magic damage reduction, and +10% to attack and spell power. All of this, in his words, makes the "Alliance vs. Horde" PvP matchup noticeably uneven, especially for Warlocks.
What's being proposed
The author isn't asking for Alliance to be "OP" — on the contrary, he proposes reworking the abilities so they become more interesting and on par with the Horde. Ideas from the post:
- For Dwarves: an axe specialization instead of maces, and a "Prospector" with a chance to find ore.
- For Night Elves: movement speed in forests (analogous to Taurens on open terrain).
- For Gnomes: more interesting abilities instead of "Eureka" (jokingly, "cannibals" with the ability to eat corpses).
Separately — a suggestion to add new races. For the Alliance, Worgen: the author references that Blizzard has already fleshed out Gilneas, and adding a beast race fits the canon well. For the Horde — Ogres, because historically they were part of the original Horde. Goblins — as a neutral race, similar to how Skyborne are implemented.
No reactions yet
The thread has one post and one participant — Blizzard hasn't replied on the forum. The thread can be used as a sentiment barometer: complaints about faction imbalance in Classic projects are common, but there's no official position on Forever racial abilities on the forum yet.
In practice
- If you play Alliance and PvP is your main mode, watch the activity in this thread: Blizzard sometimes responds to single posts after activity picks up.
- If racial abilities are an important factor in choosing a side, keep in mind: the author sees an imbalance in favor of Horde, but there's no other confirmation of this yet.
