Auction House on Forever Beta Charges More Deposit Than Listed
30.09.2026Beta testers of World of Warcraft: Forever have noticed that when posting an auction, the auction house charges a deposit different from what's shown in the dialog: cheap items get charged a full silver instead of a few coppers, while expensive items get a couple of extra coppers. The behavior reproduces across different players, and Blizzard has not commented yet.
Beta testers of World of Warcraft: Forever have noticed that when posting an auction, the auction house charges a deposit different from what's shown in the dialog. On cheap items with a deposit under 1 silver, the game still charges a full silver; on expensive items, a couple of extra coppers sometimes get added to the total. The behavior reproduces for different beta players, and Blizzard has not commented yet.
What's actually happening
- When listing an item, the game shows a deposit — for example, 47 coppers — but actually charges 1 silver. For cheap items, the difference is noticeable.
- On expensive auctions, the opposite minor glitch happens: 1–2 coppers more than shown in the dialog get charged.
- The behavior reproduces for different players on different beta servers.
- At the time of publication, Blizzard has not released a blue post or a hotfix on this matter.
This is a beta bug, not an intentional mechanic: until the developers respond officially, you shouldn't treat such charges as "working as intended" — at release, the deposit should match the dialog.
In practice
- Before listing a cheap auction with a deposit under 1 silver, recalculate how much will actually be charged — this can be noticeable when trading reagents and materials.
- On expensive items, verify the final sum after posting: if 1–2 more coppers were charged, it's likely the same rounding bug.
- Until Blizzard responds or a hotfix lands, it's better not to post auctions with large deposits, to avoid losing copper on every transaction.
