Hunter and wand auto-shot 0.5s cast is broken in the WoW: Forever beta — a fix is coming

In the World of Warcraft: Forever open beta, a bug is making the 0.5-second cast before a hunter's auto-shot and wand use noticeably shorter than intended. Kaivax has confirmed the fix will land in one of the upcoming beta builds.

A bug has surfaced in the World of Warcraft: Forever open beta that makes the 0.5-second cast before a hunter's auto-shot or wand use significantly shorter than intended. As a result, hunters and wand users spend noticeably less time standing still per shot than the combat system's design calls for. Community manager Kaivax confirmed the issue on September 23, 2026.

What's actually broken

  • Every shot from a hunter's bow, crossbow, or firearm, and every wand swing, starts with a brief 0.5-second cast.
  • Because of the bug, that cast currently finishes faster than it should.
  • In practice, hunters and mages, priests, and warlocks using a wand spend less time stopped to fire than the designers intended.
  • Blizzard explicitly calls this a bug, not an intentional change to the mechanic.

When to expect the fix

According to Kaivax, the fix will land in one of the next beta builds — roughly "next week" after the post went up on September 23, 2026. The WoW: Forever beta is scheduled to run from September 17 to October 21, 2026, with release set for November 4, 2026 at 23:00 UTC (November 5 at 02:00 MSK).

In practice

  • If you play a hunter or a wand-wielding character, don't get used to the current short cast: once the fix lands, the pause before each shot will go back to the original 0.5 seconds.
  • If you picked your class or build specifically for the current behavior, keep in mind the game will work differently at release.
  • If you want to feel the mechanic the way it was designed, wait for the next beta build — that's where the fix will appear.
