Forever beta hotfixes — October 1

01.10.2026

On October 1, Blizzard pushed server-side hotfixes for build 70124 of the Forever beta — the changes only live on the server, client files stay untouched. The most visible change for players: Heart of Ulathek no longer attacks in melee.

The Forever beta runs from September 17 through October 21, 2026. On October 1, Blizzard shipped a server-side hotfix for build 70124 — the changes only touch server data and don't reach the client files.

What changed

The biggest change for players: Heart of Ulathek no longer hits players in melee. Before, the object behaved like a melee unit. If it killed you in melee over the previous days of the beta, today that won't happen.

The hotfix cache also records a change to Night Watchman's Torch (ability). The exact changes are unknown: server-side data doesn't make it into the client.

By the numbers

The hotfix cache for build 70124 stores 4,402 entries — items, spells, and other entities that exist only on the servers. That's a normal order of magnitude for a beta: Blizzard tweaks balance and fixes bugs in place, without shipping a new client build or pausing testing.

This set of changes picked up the unofficial label "patch 12.1".
