Players on the Blizzard forum: Forever still lacks a coherent gameplay picture
29.09.2026Two players on the official Blizzard forum independently described the same complaint about the Forever beta: the team's work on the world is visible, but gameplay decisions, in their words, pull in different directions — sometimes drifting from vanilla, sometimes clinging to it without an obvious reason.
Over the past day, two posts with a similar thesis appeared on the official Blizzard forum: the authors acknowledge the team's work on the world and story of Forever, but argue that the project still lacks a coherent gameplay picture — changes pull sometimes away from vanilla, sometimes back toward it, with no visible logic.
The first post lists specific discrepancies: warlock soul shards no longer stack, rogue poisons work differently and, according to the author, worse, and enchanting rods lost the reverse compatibility that had existed since The Burning Crusade. At the same time, in other places the team takes bolder steps: the paladin has been reworked, the Skyborne race has appeared, and reagents now have their own slot. These changes, in the author's view, do not add up to a single system, and a month of beta with a limited level range leaves no time to test everything — untested spots may remain by release.
The second post is broader. The author has played around 40 hours and concluded that Forever currently feels ninety percent like classic WoW. In their words, players in the starting zones are busy leveling and barely talk to each other, and of the noticeably new content they only noticed the tourist campfire in Ironforge. Of the quality-of-life improvements — mostly the kind that third-party addons used to provide, and the built-in solutions still fall short of them. In the end, the author canceled their pre-order and decided to wait and see how the project develops.
In practice
- The complaints come from two players, not the community as a whole: there are no mass threads with this exact framing in the beta coverage yet.
- If you have similar gameplay notes — the official forum is active and the team reads it; concrete examples of discrepancies carry more weight there than general impressions.
- The pre-order cancellation in the second post is the author's personal decision, not a call to action; it does not affect beta access.
