Every class can collect books across Azeroth: 10 books earns a necklace of your choice, 20 books earns a ring. Mages have their own mechanic — decoding scrolls once per day.

Books are scattered all over Azeroth and lie out in the open world — some are easy to grab off the path, others are a bit harder to find. Collected copies are turned in to your faction's librarian, who also hands out the reward quests.

Where to turn in books

• Alliance: Garion Wendell, Stormwind, Mage Tower (~49.0, 86.4). Convenient — right next to the portal trainers.
• Horde: Owen Thadde, Undercity, Magic Quarter (~74.0, 32.4).

Twenty books is a feat of endurance, but doable as early as level 20: in our test run, an Alliance paladin managed to gather the full set.

Mage bonus: 'Study' and scrolls

Mages get more out of this activity than anyone else. As soon as a mage turns in the first book, they learn the ability 'Study', tied to the combat spell 'Scroll Decoding' (learned from the trainer at level 6).

You can only use 'Study' inside the library — next to Wendell or Thadde. It spends a Light Quill and, with a daily cooldown, hands you a bundle of scrolls. So far in the drops we've seen: Scroll of Healing IX, Scroll of Fire Arrow II, Scroll of Meditation, Scroll of Intellect II, Scroll of Barrier II; the list is expected to grow as you level.

What this means for you

• The collection is shared, not class-locked. You don't need to play a mage to get the ring and necklace — the task is open to everyone, and you can work on it alongside your normal leveling.
• Convenient turn-in spots. Both librarians stand right next to the portal trainers in the capitals — you can turn in books any time you happen to be in town.
• 'Study' cooldown is one day. If you're a mage, this is a daily ritual at the librarian: Light Quill and a bundle of scrolls. Stock up on quills ahead of time so you don't burn them on alchemy recipes.
• The ring is currently flagged only for rogues among the non-caster classes — it's still unclear whether this is a tooltip bug or an intentional restriction; worth double-checking after launch.
