Damage: weapon scaling and the forum split

The biggest change — druid forms now scale off the weapon in your hands. That's what kicked off the argument in the two most active beta threads. In one, players list the upsides of the changes and are happy; in another, with 170 replies, they're rerolling at level 10: Wrath hits for about one-fifth of a mage's Frostbolt. The source notes both sides are right, and the reason is the same — forms scale off what's in your hands.

In other words, the gap between a druid with a staff and one without has grown so wide that starting the leveling journey without a decent weapon no longer feels playable. Those who invested in a weapon, on the other hand, feel the druid plays fine with one.

Combat quality-of-life

From the same batch of changes — two small practical tweaks that shift gameplay without touching balance. In forms you can now drink potions, and Entangling Roots works indoors.

Insect Swarm in Balance

The ability moved to the Balance tree and now stacks instead of sitting as a single effect. The source stops there — no damage numbers, no comparison with other talents.

Deviate Delight and form appearance

A separate note from reddit: Deviate Delight lets you stay in cat or bear form while the character visually looks humanoid, and the form icon in the UI shows the actual shape. It doesn't affect balance — it's cosmetic, but if you like unusual looks, it's a reason to dig through your bank for delicacies.

• If you're starting a druid — don't ignore weapons. Without a staff or mace, form scaling drops noticeably, and you can see it as early as level 10.
