Beta testers of World of Warcraft: Forever stumbled upon a cozy hidden tavern called "The Drunken Dwarf" in the Dun Algaz mountains, with a locked cellar. Players collected a series of notes nearby, but the trail currently ends at the Stone Key — where it leads, no one knows yet.
Where the tavern is located
The tavern is hidden in Dun Algaz, a mountain range between Loch Modan and the Wetlands. According to the discoverer, researcher Medievaldragon, the path starts with a tunnel: once you go down, you need to turn left off the road where the orcs are standing, and climb the slope into the mountain.
Inside, there's a small but meticulously decorated room: dishes, furniture, vendors with drinks and snacks. It's a quiet place to rest after a long grind and meet up with party mates. The discoverer suggests the tavern is aimed primarily at roleplay fans. In feel, it resembles the "cozy corners" of vanilla WoW — those very places that kept players lingering in a zone a bit longer.
The locked cellar and the mysterious note chain
The tavern itself isn't the whole find. It has a locked cellar that beta testers don't have a key for yet. At the same time, the community has completed a separate chain of notes scattered across the world:
- the Undercity sewers;
- the Keystone Fragment;
- jumps in Blackrock Mountain;
- the Stone Key.
The Stone Key is the last found element of the chain. Where it leads and what it's for remains unclear: the trail ends there, and forum-goers are waiting for higher level caps, where, by their logic, continuations may open up. The current beta phase only allows up to level 30, so some secrets remain beyond the horizon.
In practice
- The tavern was found in the beta and, by all logic, will appear in the release version on 04.11.2026 at 23:00 UTC.
- Accessing it doesn't require any special skills — just attentiveness and a willingness to detour from the route in Dun Algaz.
- The note chain with the Stone Key is an open question: it may be tied to the locked cellar, or to content that opens up as your character levels up.
- Some clues are in the Undercity sewers — the Horde capital: for the Horde this is a familiar route, while the Alliance will have to take roundabout paths or go with an escort.
