Forever beta build 70009: first patch notes — classes overhauled, Miner Johnson becomes a Deadmines boss

25.09.2026

The Forever beta client has updated to 1.60.1.70009 — the first full changelog since September 17, 2026: the patch notes bring class reworks, cheap talent resets and the Cooldown Manager, while datamining in the client turned up a proper Miner Johnson boss, four new dungeon sets and 200 statistics counters.

The Forever beta client has updated from 1.60.1.69977 to 1.60.1.70009 — the first full changelog since the test began on September 17, 2026. The build delivered two layers of news at once: balanced class changes from the developers, and dataminer finds inside the client itself — a new boss in a dungeon, four dungeon sets and a now-functional Statistics tab.

Classes

  • Balance druid: Wrath gets +50% to base damage, and spells with a periodic healing effect can now crit.
  • Feral druid: Mangle has been renamed to Primal Bite — Blizzard has not yet announced an official localization.
  • Paladin: Holy Strike has been buffed at every rank, and the talent Improved Holy Strike has become baseline.
  • Shaman: totems no longer stack — neither your own nor another shaman's totems in a group.
  • Races: the gnome racial Eureka has become a permanent 10% discount on resources; tauren herbalism now has level requirements on gathering.

System changes

  • Talent resets cost 1 silver if the player hasn't reset in a while. This is a temporary measure for the beta — once the test ends, the price will return to its regular value.
  • Wands no longer take damage from spell power.
  • Cooldown Manager — a new interface that can be enabled for five classes.
  • Gamepad: radial ability menus have been added for five classes.
  • Quests: around twenty quests have been tweaked — mostly faster respawns in starter zones where players piled up in the early days.

Client datamining

  • Miner Johnson in the Deadmines has been promoted to a full boss, like VanCleef or Gilnid. He used to be a rare elite mob; now he's a standalone encounter. A loot table hasn't shown up in the client yet, but the Deadmines have made it onto Forever's "ten" dungeon list for the first time — there used to be nine.
  • Four new sets (55 in-game, up from 51): Rotmender's Raiment (cloth healer, levels 17–19, found by players in the Ruins of Lordaeron), Violet Sorcerer's Vestments (likely Dalaran), Krol'dok Battlegear (Keep of Krol'dok) and Defias Enforcer's Garb (Deadmines). For three of the sets, some slots in the client are still encrypted — not every item is visible.
  • 48 new items, 8 removed. Among the notable ones — the blue necklace Thermaplugg's Medal of Honor (level 34, +10 attack power) and the blue leather gloves Thorncursed Grips (level 33, deal Nature damage).
  • 27 recipes removed: 24 "adaptive" armor recipes for leatherworkers, blacksmiths and tailors, plus three engineering devices. The actual items from these recipes were never in the client — whether they're gone for good or shelved for future updates isn't clear from the dump.
  • Alchemy: Potion of Beast Culling has become Potion of Beast Slaying (same effect — +180 attack power versus beasts for 5 minutes), and Potion of Elemental Siphoning has been renamed to Potion of Elemental Purging. Localized names in the client haven't been confirmed yet.
  • 200 statistics counters: achievements in-game went from 126 to 326. All the new ones are counters for the Statistics tab in the character window (C button). It appeared in the last build but was empty; now it works: dungeon and raid boss kill counters, battleground wins and matches, duels, deaths, highest hit, number of talent resets. Boss kills only count after your first kill.
  • Pet: Spawn of Grubthor — likely drops from Grubthor, a level 58 rare elite in Silithus. No source is listed in the client, and level 58 isn't reachable in the beta yet.

In practice

  • Shamans: totems no longer stack with yours or your ally's. If you were used to "two-shaman" combos — they're gone.
  • Talent resets cost next to nothing right now, so this is the best moment to try out different builds. When the beta ends, the price returns to its normal value.
  • The Statistics tab in your character window is live. Take a look after your first dungeon run — boss counters only show up after your first kill.
  • The Deadmines have made it onto Forever's ten-dungeon list — it used to be nine. If you head there in the next few days of beta, there's a chance of meeting Miner Johnson as a standalone boss.
