Blizzard listed new known issues for the Forever beta

The October 1 list gathered 13 items — from spell chains and a warrior talent to Anduin's hats. Blizzard released an updated list of known issues for the World of Warcraft: Forever beta, dated October 1 — thirteen items, from spell chains to Anduin's hats. Several bugs directly shift the balance: warriors get extra hit rating on their main hand, the paladin's Retribution Aura reads the target's spell power, and several debuffs don't generate threat.

Combat and classes

  • Spell chain. While the first spell is still casting, the next one in the chain won't play its pre-cast effects and sounds. Example with Fireball: your hands don't ignite and crackle again until the previous cast's animation finishes.
  • Parry from behind. Enemies parry and block attacks from behind if you stand too close — the team recommends not getting too close until the fix.
  • Warrior's Close Combat Specialization. The talent grants hit rating to both main-hand and off-hand; intended only for the off-hand.
  • Paladin's Retribution Aura. It reads the target's spell power instead of your own.
  • Eureka. The talent doesn't affect all damage and debuff spells for some classes (fixed in a later build).
  • Threat from debuffs. Faerie Fire and Demoralizing Shout don't generate threat — important for tanks.
  • Mage Research. Picking up the Research talent can lock you out of it.

Content and tech

  • Install size is larger than planned; Blizzard promises to shrink it in a future beta update.
  • Gamepad mode. Switching to it (or back) resets your active interface editing layout to the default.
  • Scroll of Liminal Passage. Doesn't work correctly.
  • Water sounds for dwarves. Not updated to current versions — fixed in a later build.
  • Quest 'Crack a Few Eggs'. Taillasher eggs respawn slower than intended; the fix is also planned.

A bit of Blizzard humor

Anduin Wrynn and many other children in the game wear hats the developers are trying to take off — "but they giggle and run away," the list says.

In practice

  • If you play a dual-wield warrior, note that your hit rating is currently higher than intended; the bug will vanish with one of the future builds.
  • Paladins running Retribution Aura should know that in fights against strong mages and priests, the aura will read their spell power rather than yours — which also affects outgoing damage.
  • Tanks: Faerie Fire and Demoralizing Shout don't generate threat yet — open the pull with another tool first.
  • Before a beta update, save your interface editing layout separately: switching to gamepad mode will reset it to the default.
