Forever will add a warning about gold from strangers
02.10.2026Blizzard will add an in-game warning in World of Warcraft: Forever that appears when trying to trade gold with an unfamiliar player. This continues the work against bots and real-money trades.
What happened
Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft: Forever will get an in-game warning that triggers when a player tries to trade gold with an unfamiliar character. This continues the line of work the company described in a previous statement on real-money trading (RMT): according to the developers, accounts caught botting or buying and selling gold keep getting banned.
What's changing
The warning will flag the risks of receiving gold from an unknown sender. On its own, it doesn't cancel the transfer — you can still receive gold, but the player will see in the interface that Blizzard marks such transfers as potentially dangerous.
Context
RMT has been a topic in Forever since the first weeks of the beta: gold is expensive in-game, and a market has already formed around it. Blizzard has responded both with account bans and with in-interface signals; the new warning slots into that line.
In practice
- When receiving gold from an unknown player, a warning will appear in the interface.
- The warning itself doesn't block the transfer — you can still receive gold.
- Accounts caught botting or doing real-money trades keep getting banned: Blizzard states outright that action is taken regularly.
- Blizzard has not yet given an exact release window for the warning.
