Hardcore mode in World of Warcraft: Forever — a separate rule set with its own economy
14.09.2026Blizzard has confirmed: in winter 2026–2027, Forever will get a separate Hardcore segment with an isolated economy. A dead character isn't deleted — you can transfer them to the standard mode or to PvP.
World of Warcraft: Forever will get a separate Hardcore mode in winter 2026–2027 — this isn't just a "no death" flag, but a standalone rule set with its own economy.
What's known
- A separate rule set. Hardcore won't be a toggle in the regular world, but a separate "segment" of the game: with its own isolated economy and collections. What you gather in Hardcore doesn't cross over with the standard mode.
- Your character isn't deleted after death. Blizzard was quick to clarify: a dead character can be transferred to the standard mode or to a PvP rule set. This isn't permadeath in the classic sense.
- Timeline. Forever launches on November 4, 2026 at 23:00 UTC (November 5, 02:00 MSK). Hardcore arrives later, in winter 2026–2027.
- Classic+ context. Forever is a Classic+ branch, and Blizzard specifically stresses that its setting will bring new mechanics — and therefore new ways to die.
In practice
- If you die in Hardcore, don't panic: your character won't be wiped, and you can move them to the standard mode or to PvP.
- Items gathered in Hardcore stay in Hardcore: the isolated economy doesn't cross over with the standard one, so you won't be allowed to transfer gold or collections.
- Before the main launch, you can play in the beta (September 17 – October 21, 2026). Hardcore itself opens separately in winter.
