A short faction quest chain in the Skyborne starting zone on Zephra hands out relics to the Horde at levels 5–6. Normally the idol slot for a druid and the totem slot for a shaman stay empty much longer, and small bonuses like this feel especially noticeable at the start.

What's in the chain

The starting quest is 'Welcome to Shen'dar Village' in Shen'dar Village on Zephra. After talking to Illaya Amberwind and Coriella Calmbreeze, Amberwind gives you 'Meddlesome Mages' — that's the quest with the reward. Both items are handed over the moment it completes.

What you get

• Windcharged Leaf — druid idol. Cuts the mana cost of shapeshift by 40 points. At levels 1–20 the effect is noticeable, though proper powershifting isn't really a thing here: shapeshifts are used mostly to drop snares.
• Windcarved Effigy — shaman totem. Reduces the mana cost of early ranks of Lightning Bolt by 33–16.67% (at a base cost of 15, that's roughly 5–2.5 mana). With Lightning Bolt's base damage being nerfed across the board, the bonus is welcome but not decisive.

Who can take it

The quest isn't race-locked — any Horde character can pick it up. For example, a tauren druid out of Mulgore can make their way to the new Skywatcher plateau, hop the zeppelin to Valanaar, and reach Zephra to grab the reward.

Alliance is locked out. Even if a Skyborne-race druid or shaman reaches Shen'dar and tries the same chain, Amberwind refuses to continue the conversation — the quest 'Meddlesome Mages' simply isn't available.
