Beta tester picks apart the Hunter in the Forever beta on the Blizzard forum
29.09.2026A beta tester posted a detailed breakdown of the Hunter class in World of Warcraft: Forever: too few stable slots, cumbersome quivers, ammo that vendors won't buy back, a dead zone around the character, and a pet only at level 10. The thread on Blizzard's US forum still has no developer response.
A long, detailed thread criticizing the Hunter class appeared in the Forever section of Blizzard's US forum. The author — one of the beta testers — lists eight specific problems that get in the way of enjoying the class. As of publication, there's no developer reply in the thread.
What the thread author says
Stable. Right now the stable has only two slots, and one of them is the 'training' one. The author considers this critically low: a hunter is supposed to be a collection of pets for different tasks, and two slots make the whole mechanic meaningless.
Quivers and ammo pouches. Switching between bow and firearm requires swapping the quiver or pouch too — and then the matching arrows or ammo. Old items stay in the bags and take up space: NPCs won't buy them back — vendors don't take arrows or ammo. In the author's view, it would be simpler to just carry a regular bag that fits anything.
Ammo. Every shot costs money, ammo isn't universal between bow and gun, and the whole 'swap' has to be done every time. The author calls it 'money down the drain' outright.
Dead Zone. Around the hunter there's a radius where they can't attack in melee or at range — damage drops to zero. The author sees this as an extra class penalty the game could do without.
Forced weapon swap. To play ranged or melee, a hunter has to swap between two weapon sets. The author thinks that, if a player wants to, they should be able to play any style without wasting time on re-equipping.
Un-tamable pets. In the Forever version you can't tame a number of classic pets — kodos, thunder lizards, and hydras, for example. The author doesn't see the point of restricting the class here.
Ranged weapon visibility. Only the melee weapon set shows on the character; bow or gun aren't displayed. The author suggests giving an option to pick which weapon shows.
Pet only at level 10. Until the hunter gets their first pet at level 10, they're essentially playing without the class's core feature. The author proposes adding a taming tutorial quest from level 1.
For now — one player's opinion only
The thread has been open for a few hours, with six participants and seven posts. No blue post, no developer reply from Blizzard. This isn't patch notes and isn't a promise of a class rework: one beta tester laid out what makes the Hunter hard to enjoy and is waiting for a response.
In practice
- The World of Warcraft: Forever beta runs until 21.10.2026, with release on 05.11.2026 02:00 MSK; if you're planning to play a Hunter, it's worth knowing about these pain points before launch.
- If the breakdown resonates and you're in the beta too — feel free to leave your feedback in the same thread; the topic is alive and visible to both developers and the community.
- Treat this as one player's opinion, not a 'fix list': until patch notes or a blue post appear, none of the above is confirmed or scheduled.
