Hunters in Forever: player proposes Focus and quivers as proper gear

28.09.2026

On the European Blizzard forums, a player suggested reworking the hunter resource system in WoW: Forever — replacing mana with Focus and turning quivers and arrows into real gear pieces. Blizzard hasn't replied, but the beta is live, making this the right moment for that conversation.

In WoW: Forever, hunters will return to mana — and players have noticed. On the European Blizzard forum, one participant proposed revisiting the class's resource system: bring Focus back instead of mana, and rework the quiver and arrows so they become part of the hunter's identity again instead of just taking up bag space.

Focus instead of mana

The author argues that the hunter has historically been a "physical" class, and mana doesn't quite suit it. In their proposal, Steady Shot generates Focus, while Arcane Shot, Multi-Shot, and Aimed Shot spend it. The class gets an active resource system and stops feeling like "a ranged that just got handed mana out of habit."

A dedicated slot for quiver and ammo

Today the quiver is just a bag with a small attack speed bonus. The proposal comes in two parts:

  • A dedicated slot for quiver and ammo. It solves the bag-space problem and restores a piece of the hunter's identity.
  • Different quivers and arrows with effects. Instead of identical arrows, you get options that fit a chosen playstyle.

Examples given:

  • Quivers. Burning (chance of fire DoT), Frost (slow), Barbed (bleed), Poisoned (poison), Eagle Eye (range and crit from distance), Quick Draw (attack speed), Precise Shot (crit and Aimed Shot bonus).
  • Arrows. Standard iron, barbed (bleed), fiery, icy, poisoned, silver (undead damage), armor-piercing, explosive (small splash), precise (crit).

This approach doesn't make the hunter harder, but adds choice: before heading out, the hunter thinks not just "what bow to take," but also "what quiver and what arrows" for the situation.

Quiver enchants

Another layer — enchants on the quiver itself. For example, "Beastmaster's Quiver" (pet synergy), "Marksman's Quiver" (Aimed Shot and ranged bonus), "Survivor's Quiver" (traps, melee and DoT), "Wild Nature's Quiver" (Focus restore on crit). The author's idea is to add another tier of customization without making the class harder.
