In The Burning Crusade, Ezra Chatterton — remembered by the community as Ephoenix — was given a chance through the Make-A-Wish program to design and voice his own quest for World of Warcraft. It became the chain "Kyle is Gone!" in Mulgore: the player helps the tauren Ahab Wheathoof feed his dog, Kyle the Frenzied. Ezra recorded Ahab's lines himself, and that turned the quest into one of the most memorable Horde moments in the game's history.

Why the quest was gone and why players asked for it back

The quest isn't in Forever — it was added in TBC. Players repeatedly asked for at least this tribute to Ezra to be restored, and Blizzard responded.

What Blizzard says

Community manager Taharken commented briefly: he said he hoped the team would make an exception to the timeline for this quest and confirmed that the team is already working on adding it. There's no direct confirmation of a release date yet — this is "work in progress," not a finished patch.

What it changes in the game

If Blizzard really does bring the chain back, Kyle and his tauren will once again cross the path of new players on their way to Thunder Bluff — and Ezra's story will once again become part of the base Horde experience. The source material also notes that Forever itself is built around the idea of an "eternal" game, and other in-game memorials could appear in the future — dozens of monuments from different eras are scattered across Azeroth.

• Don't expect the quest in the next patch: Blizzard literally only said "we're working on it," with no release date.
• If you want to see the quest before it returns to Forever, it still lives on in later versions of WoW.
