WoW: Forever designers: no Season of Discovery roles at launch, and Meeting Stones will stop summoning

In an interview with Kotaku, the WoW: Forever designers confirmed three things: SoD's unusual roles won't be carried over at launch, raids will ship in both 10- and 20-player formats, and Meeting Stones will no longer teleport the group to the dungeon.

World of Warcraft: Forever's lead designers, in an interview with Kotaku, drew a line under several questions that had been on players' minds since the announcement. The big one: the unusual Season of Discovery roles — like the tanking Shaman — won't be in Forever at launch. The raid format was also confirmed, and Meeting Stones will work differently.

What the designers said

1. Season of Discovery roles won't carry over. The tanking Shaman and similar hybrid builds were SoD's signature. Don't expect them in Forever: at launch, class roles stay traditional.

2. Every raid tier will launch in two sizes — 10 and 20 players. That means at release, 10-player won't be a watered-down 20-player: it'll be a parallel mode, available from day one.

3. Meeting Stones will stop summoning players. In Forever, a Meeting Stone opens the group finder, but the teleport itself is gone. Essentially, Meeting Stones become a tool for finding travel companions rather than quick transportation.

Note: the data comes from one interview recap. Wait for official blue posts with details — especially on the number of roles at launch.
