Chronicleruins-of-lordaeron

The Ruins of Lordaeron — a level 16–23 dungeon — has arrived in World of Warcraft: Forever. It sits right above Undercity: enter Lordaeron, then turn left. It's one of the first group dungeons players hit early on, so it's worth knowing what's waiting inside.
Where it is and who it's for
The dungeon is tuned for levels 16–23. The content is built around group play: mob placement is dense, and without crowd control some pulls will be tough to burn down at low levels. Paladins are comfortable here from level 20, when they get Exorcism.
Quests
The setup differs between the two factions.
- Horde get 6 quests. Four are picked up outside the dungeon, the other two inside. Several of them are handed out in Undercity: in the apothecarium wing and in Sylvanas's chambers. One quest comes from a caravan between Brill and Undercity, and another is in Silverpine Forest, in the Tomb.
- Alliance get 4 quests, all of them inside the dungeon, from an NPC named Captain Truman who is friendly to the Alliance and hostile to the Horde.
Worth noting: even at level 17, the quests show up red in your log, but the dungeon is very much doable.
Full Horde quest list: quests 92401, 92422, 95216, 92421, 97288, and 95204. The last two are handed out inside.
Full Alliance quest list: quests 95250, 95195, 95204, and 92415.
Quests reward 3,500 to 9,750 experience — a sizable chunk for this level range.
Bosses
The dungeon has six bosses, and you can take them in any order.
- Witherfang (beast). Easy fight: the only thing to watch for is not pulling him with the surrounding packs. Clear the path first.
- The Baron (undead). A dangerous Knock Away that can drop the tank fast. Stun him often and keep the tank topped off.
- Viktor the Vile (beast). The encounter doesn't start with the boss — five waves of adds come first. Burn them down, click the "Kindled Flame", and only then does Viktor appear. He hits hard, so the tank needs to hold threat. There's a bug on the current beta: this boss may simply not spawn.
- The Abandoned (undead). Appears after three waves of adds on Market Street. He knows Frost Nova and a Chill effect, but his main attack is Drain Life. Interrupt the cast with a stun to stop it.
- Bjork (undead). A short fight: the boss casts Anti-Magic Shell — and that's it. Considered easy and generous with drops.
- Rath'mael (undead). Drops a Flamestrike under your feet — just step out after the cast.
Quest rewards
Among the notable items are a one-hand mace (Horde only), item 279874 for quest 92421; a staff, item 251534 for quest 92422; a ring, item 279867 for quest 95250 or 97288; and for the Alliance, a necklace, item 279870 for quest 92415. These are real upgrades for the mid-twenties.
What this means for you
- Free order — walk into whichever boss room is most convenient.
- Alliance has an easier time gathering: all four quests are handed out inside — no running around the city.
- Horde has a longer route: some quests are in Undercity itself, in Silverpine Forest, and near Brill — budget travel time.
- Viktor the Vile can be skipped: it's easy to miss the event, and on the current beta he sometimes doesn't even spawn due to a bug. If your group is stuck, come back later — the issue may be on the server side.
- Crowd control matters: the dungeon has tight mob placement, and without stuns or slows at low levels you'll accidentally pull extra packs.
The Forever beta runs until 21 October 2026, with release on 4 November 2026 at 23:00 UTC. You'll have time to grind XP in the Ruins before the official launch.
