The Tips Out Forever Open dueling tournament in the WoW: Forever beta hit $100,000 — registration closed early
01.10.2026Streamers launched The Forever Open with 4,000 sign-ups and $100,000 in prizes. The registration window closed two days earlier than planned due to the flood of applicants.
Streamers Tips Out, EsfandTV, and Xaryu launched the Forever Open, a dueling tournament, during the WoW: Forever beta. The original $50,000 prize pool was doubled by Timthetatman — bringing the total to $100,000 and making this the latest tournament from these same streamers, three years after the Hardcore Mak'gora event.
Sign-ups were open through Raider.io from September 27 and were originally scheduled to close on October 4. The organizers announced that registration would close early — on October 2 at 10:00 AM Pacific — after 4,000 players had applied. Tips Out specifically noted that the team would not be able to run proper qualifiers with that many participants.
The tournament will be played entirely on the Horde side of a PvP realm. Characters must be created fresh during the registration window and named with the surname "Foreverpvp." Qualifiers and the online check-in are scheduled for October 17, with the finals on October 18. The main broadcasts will run on EsfandTV's and Xaryu's Twitch channels; streaming is allowed for anyone who follows Blizzard's rules and the tournament's Code of Conduct.
The $100,000 prize pool is split as follows: $50,000 to the champion, and the remaining $50,000 divided equally across the nine classes — the top player in each class receives $5,555. If a class has multiple winners with the same result, that class's prize is split between them.
In the week before announcing the registration closure, the organizers updated the rules several times. Key changes:
- A full ban on gold buying. The rule was added to the regulations in light of the recent RMT scandal.
- Only class-specific self-buffs and buffs applied during the duel. World buffs, temporary quest buffs, and camp buffs are prohibited.
- Stealth classes, including druids, receive an uncontested opener — the opponent stands still until the opener begins their attack. Warriors also have an uncontested opener, but only against non-stealth classes. In a stealth-vs-stealth matchup, neither side gets an opener.
- The opener window is 25 seconds from the moment the opponent becomes hostile. Delays caused by the opponent don't count against stealth classes.
- Pre-HoTs from druids, preemptive hunter traps, and warlock sacrifices before the fight starts are forbidden. A hunter can only place a trap once the countdown reaches zero.
- Shamans may begin the duel with all four totems already placed.
Tips Out also announced a separate rule change for the Legacy system, so participants don't have to grind it out just for the tournament.
In practice
- Registration closed on October 2 at 10:00 AM PT (20:00 MSK). If you didn't make it in time — you'll only be able to watch the broadcast on October 17 and 18.
- Anyone following PvP in the beta should consider following EsfandTV and Xaryu on Twitch: the main broadcast channels will set the pace of matches and the meta classes.
- The updated rules explicitly ban gold buying — this was added in light of the recent RMT scandal.
