Forever beta: Warriors get +100% rage from crits and a Fury tree rework
02.10.2026In the latest Forever beta build, Warriors got a boost to rage from crits and a big overhaul of the Fury and Protection trees — but part of the Fury changes looks less like a buff and more like the opposite.
In the latest Forever beta build, Warriors received a notable boost to rage from critical strikes and a whole series of changes to the Fury and Protection talent trees. The developers clarify: part of this is a fix for an old bug, and for Fury Warriors the net result may not be a buff at all — quite the opposite.
Rage from crits: 75% → 100%
According to blue posts for the October 2, 2026 build, the extra rage a Warrior gains on a critical strike has been raised from 75% to 100%.
Was it actually a buff?
At the same time, a bug was fixed: Dual Wield Specialization was mistakenly granting hit rating to both weapons. Now the hit bonus applies only to the weapon in the main hand. Along with the talent, the old rage generation bonus from the off-hand that came bundled with it is gone as well. According to players' calculations on the European Blizzard forum, you'd need around 44% crit just to return to the previous rage generation level — unrealistic for a Fury build. In practice, for Fury this is more of a loss than a gain.
Fury tree rework
In the dev notes, Blizzard states the goal: give the tree more useful early choices, so you no longer have to invest in Enrage just to pick up Flurry further down the tree. The highlights:
- Flurry no longer requires Enrage, but now requires Death Wish.
- Whirlwind now always strikes with both weapons — Raging Blows no longer handles that.
- Three new talents: Lingering Rage (rage decay outside combat delayed by 2/4/6/8/10 seconds), Furious Precision (off-hand hit rating 4/7/10%) and Gore Drinker (the next 3 attacks after Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage, Death Wish or Bloodthirst restore 0.5/1% health).
- Berserker Rage is now available at level 30 instead of 32.
- Bloodthirst is stronger: attack power coefficient 35% → 45%.
- Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage have been removed.
- Booming Voice increases shout radius and reduces their rage cost; Unbridled Wrath no longer grants double rage to two-handed weapons.
- Blood Craze no longer triggers from Bloodthirst; Raging Blows reduces the rage cost of Cleave and Whirlwind by 3.
Protection
In Protection, Iron Will has arrived — it moved over from Row 2 of the Fury tree. Anticipation, on the contrary, moved further from the start: from Row 1 to Row 2. Improved Bloodrage, Improved Revenge, Improved Disarm and Improved Shield Bash moved closer to the beginning of the tree. The developers' stated goal is to make Protection a convenient second specialization for PvP tech builds: without a shield you can reach the middle of the tree and pick up Last Stand, Improved Bloodrage and Improved Shield Bash. The Toughness talent has been removed.
