Players discuss warrior rage rebalance in the Forever beta — and wait for the promised changes

29.09.2026

Several threads have piled up on the official forums criticizing the current rage generation system for warriors in the Forever open beta. Players are offering their own fixes and pointing to an old Aggrend tweet about promised compensating gameplay changes.

What's being discussed

Since the open beta started (September 17, 2026), several threads have appeared on the official Blizzard forums in which the authors criticize the current warrior rage system. There are two complaints: with "normalized" generation, the class doesn't have enough of the resource for key abilities, and the DPS rotation has become less interesting than in the vanilla version.

Players cite specific observations:

  • There isn't enough rage to keep "Bloodthirst" and "Whirlwind" on cooldown — there's no resource left for slows, the "Thunder Clap" debuff, or extra "Slams" on secondary targets.
  • During the "Execute" phase, a Fury warrior keeps spamming "Execute" — other buttons become unprofitable in that moment.
  • Leveling feels drier than in the original: already at mid levels, there's not enough resource for the usual rotation.

What's being proposed

Among the suggestions, these ideas appear most often:

  • Raise the base rage generation from all attacks — this is more of a low-level comfort fix than a scaling one.
  • Smooth out the curve of rage dependency on weapon damage in the 1–55 level range, so that the difference between cheap and expensive weapons during leveling isn't astronomical.
  • Cap the maximum rage spend on "Execute", so that a DPS warrior in this phase keeps running the "Bloodthirst" and "Whirlwind" rotation instead of becoming a "one-button" spam.
  • Introduce an additional resource or hidden mechanic: one of the authors proposes a "Momentum" concept, where auto attacks also build up a second stat, spent together with rage and granting burst-damage windows.

Context: Aggrend's 2024 words

An old Aggrend tweet resurfaced on the forum, in which he wrote back in 2024 that normalizing rage would require serious compensating gameplay changes. According to the thread authors, these changes aren't visible in the current beta — hence the frustration.

In practice

If you're playing a warrior in the current beta — this explains why the rotation feels poorer than vanilla: the issue is being actively discussed, and there's no official Blizzard response yet. Before starting a session, it's worth checking the forum threads — you can also support or refute the various suggestions there.
