Group quest loot in Forever will be distributed more evenly
26.09.2026Senior Game Designer Aggrend shared details on changes to quest reward distribution: in groups, loot will now spread between party members more evenly than in classic WoW — forming a party for quests should become more rewarding.
What happened
Senior Game Designer Josh "Aggrend" Greenfield announced on social media that World of Warcraft: Forever will rework how quest items are handed out. The change only affects group play: when players complete a quest as part of a party, drops will now be distributed between them noticeably more evenly than in classic WoW. RNG stays in the mix — this is about balance, not a guaranteed personal drop for everyone.
What exactly changed
Aggrend summed up the change briefly: drops now spread between group members more evenly, with randomness preserved. Blizzard wants to smooth out situations where, in the old system, the same player kept pulling the needed item from the group run after run while everyone else walked away empty-handed.
What this means for you
If you've been soloing quests to avoid splitting the loot — that excuse is gone in Forever. Solo play no longer gives a trophy advantage: forming a party will most likely become easier and more rewarding, especially on quests where the needed item has a low drop chance or is needed by several party members.
Other consequences:
- Group quest runs in classic 1–60 zones will speed up: fewer repeats for the same item.
- Low-level PvE content may become a little livelier — there's now a reason to invite strangers to a party for a quest.
- If you're used to the old system, expect to adjust: trophies no longer land in the same hands every time, but a perfectly even split isn't guaranteed either.
The version is still in beta — the final shape of the mechanic may still change, so stay tuned.
